MSDC Proudly Represents the Harris International Grappling Association, since 2002, and the Harris International Jeet Kune Do / French, Filipino, and Indonesian Arts Association, since 2004. Read about Roy Harris, Senior Instructor in JKD and highest ranked American in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (4th degree black belt) - www.royharris.com Visit the Harris Academy's online website, with information about classes and training in San Diego, CA - www.harrisacademy.tv Visit Roy Dean Academy, in beautiful Bend, Oregon. Roy Dean holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Judo, Aikikai Aikido, Seibukan Jujutsu, and Enshin Itto-ryu Batto Jutsu (Iaido). Roy Dean has been a friend of MSDC since its inception, and was our special guest during the 2007 Harris International East Coast Extravaganza at MSDC. Peruse his website, read his blog, watch his lovely video clips, and order his DVDs. - www.roydeanacademy.com Brian and Sheila Bird are two of Canada's top Black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling. Well known for their team's strong competition presence (including Sheila's World Championship victories at major grappling events), Brian and Sheila are both top-notch instructors and great people to train with. - www.bdbma.com Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black belt Rich Martens (Quebec, Canada) is a frequent visitor at MSDC's events. He has taught at both the 2006 and 2007 East Coast Extravaganza, and also came down to give some special classes in 2008 just for MSDC members. Rich's innovative game and clear, detailed instruction has made him a favorite guest among our students. - www.nomadbjj.com One of MSDC's newest guests in 2009 was Dr. Mark Cheng, PhD, RKC TL, FMS, L.Ac. Dr. Cheng came to MSDC to conduct a Kettlebell Conditioning / Functional Movement Patterning workshop that was so popular, we asked him back again a mere 3 months later! Dr. Cheng is an astonishingly insightful guide into movement patterning, injury rehab and prehab, and useful, real-world strength and flexibility development. Attendees rave about his mind-blowing approach to movement recovery and strength gains. - www.kettlebellslosangeles.com You can also read Dr. Cheng's blog, filled with articles and training advice - kettlebellslosangeles.blogspot.com MSDC has had the honor of hosting Mang Romy Macapagal (Manila, Philippines) to teach seminars on the fascinating blade art of Kalis Ilustrisimo. Mang Romy is a rare visitor to the USA and an even less frequent seminar instructor, so we are extremely grateful that he has taught two seminars for us at MSDC. Mang Romy's seminars and lessons always overflow with valuable and insightful direction, and the clarity of his instruction is as sharp and subtle as his swordwork. His friendly demeanor and care for his pupils is always missed while he is away. - www.kalisilustrisimo.com In 2007 MSDC was pleased to invite, for the first time, Savate Moniteur Armando Basulto to visit and conduct training for our members. Sifu Armando is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, Senior Full Instructor in Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, and one of the few Americans certified to teach Boxe Francaise Savate by the International Savate Federation (Paris, France). We look forward to another opportunity to welcome Sifu Armando back to MSDC for more fantastic drills and training methods. - www.wayofnoway.com and www.wncbjj.com Another frequent guest at MSDC events is BJJ Black Belt Kyle Saunders, of Rochester, NY. Kyle is Harris International's seniormost affiliate on the East Coast, and has been a source of inspiration to the New England area affiliates. We visit his academy annually for the June Roy Harris Seminar. - www.saundersbjj.com Trent Lewis of Naples, FL often visits MSDC when he's in the Northeast, and he's a popular guy when he does! Trent holds black belts in BJJ and Judo, and is an affiliate in the Harris International Grappling Association. Formerly from Maine (and later Boston), Trent is now the head instructor of his own academy in Florida. - lewisbjjacademy.webs.com
We also visit Erie, PA each year, for seminars hosted by John Bruno, a BJJ purple belt and representative of both the Harris International Grappling and JKD/FFI associations. Bruno has also been a guest instructor at MSDC's East Coast Extravaganza events, where he shared with us a variety of Kettlebell training methods for combat sports - Bruno is both an RKC (Russian Kettlebell Coach - Hard style) and an AKC (American Kettlebell Club) Certified Russian Kettlebell Lifting Coach (Sport style). - www.brunosonlinegym.com One of my Savate Coaches, Rolando Garcia, is another frequent visitor at MSDC.
